Dryland Training
Mission Creek Park until 3rd week of October
U14 & U16 will start this Friday, September 9th and run weekly Wednesdays and Fridays
4:15pm to 6:00pm
U12 & U10 Accel will begin Tuesday September 13th and run every Tuesday
4:15pm to 6:00pm
Meet at the grassy area (across from the washrooms) look for Coach Trevor and the team van.  Racers should wear good running shoes, shorts, t-shirt, water bottle, and hoodie/jacket if needed.  If you have an overlapping activity let Trevor know, it’s not a problem to come late or leave early. It’s more important to still get in part of the workout.
Dryland will be at Mission Creek Park for all sessions until the 3rd weekend of October, when all sessions move indoors.  Location is still TBA but most likely at Central School at the same time slot.  This week leads up to our annual Ski Swap Oct. 21st & 22nd.
BWSC Events to Mark in your Calendar
Dryland Testing September 24th 8:30am to 12:30pm Location to be Announced
Although this date conflicts head to head with Soccer Saturday, please try to make this important testing session, even if for part of the session.  Dryland testing is for all U12, U14, and U16 racers.  U10 Accel racers welcome to come but the only tests I will record for them is height and weight.
Fresh Air Racer Week
The first week of October Owen Taylor and his Fresh Air crew will be fitting boots and taking equipment orders. To be sure the new gear arrives in time for the end of November, all orders need to be made by Friday Oct. 7th.  Trevor will be sending out size specific suggestions for all racers in the next week or two and a list of required equipment items for U10 Accel and U12.
BWSC Ski Swap Oct. 21 & 22nd.  Our largest fundraiser of the season! All parents and racers are needed to help with our swap!  On the Friday evening there the U12 group will meet with their coaches, we expect a big crew of 20+ U12s.  Head Coach Sean Bell is back with Assistant coaches Ryland Giebelhaus and Jen Meyer.
Ski Cross Camps
This year we have two special Ski Cross events. Camp #1 is just before Christmas & Camp #2 is just before the Western Ski Cross Championship Finals at Big White.  Training camps are open to all racers in U10 Acceleration and older age groups.
InterContinental Cup – January 20, 2017
This event is a fun, new family event taking place at Big White Resort. It will include our BWSC racers and several Australian and New Zealand teams who are at Big White at their Down Under summer ski racing camp.  Plans are to include a fun filled evening of awards and food at the Black Forest Day Lodge following the race day.  Sunday, Jan 21st will have family fun events on the hill such as our returning favorite radar gun speed trap and a “race your racer” dual slalom course.
U14 Provincial Championships are at Big White!
This is a huge event for our club to host and will be an awesome weekend!  We will need all hands on deck to make it a success.  The U14 Provincials is a double-size race, where the U14 boys and girls will race on separate race runs at the same time for all three race days.  This means we will need a dual ROC (Race Organizing Committee) to pull this off.  Parents in U12, U14, and U16, please make note of the date – March 17th, 18th, 19th.  There is a job for everyone both on the race hill, in the race office, or behind the scenes such as media promotion or banquet organizing.
Western Ski Cross Championship Finals March 31st to April 2nd at Big White.
We are hosting the biggest race of the Ski Cross season in Western Canada – the Western Ski Cross Championship Finals. This event runs the first weekend of April and we will need all the volunteer help possible to make this event a success.  The race is for U12, U14, and U16 racers.
