TECH OPEN SERIES – Race #2

The Big White Ski Club was in action again this past weekend wrapping up the TECK Super G Race Series in Rossland. Athletes ripped it up at unreal speeds down Red Mountain and although they battled the occasional low visibility and extra snowfall, the athletes’ composure was top notch, battling through Mother Nature with finesse, and in return getting some well-deserved moments of glorious sunshine and fantastic conditions.

Over 120 U16 (born 2004 & 2005) skiers from all over BC and Alberta competed in three Super G races on Saturday and Sunday with 5 skiers representing the local club from Big White, all in their first Super G races of their careers. In the Women’s U16 category, Shayna Little (2005) was the top racer from Big White finishing 3rd on Sunday while in the Men’s U16 category, Finley Cashin (2005) had two top 25 finishes, with Benjamin Hare cracking the top 40 twice. Also competing from the Big White Ski Club were Simon Yanow (2005) and Ty Frydenlund (2005) from the U16 men. Other notable placements from the Big White Ski Club included:

• U16 Women: 17th Shayna Little
• U16 Men: 25th Finley Cashin; 38th Benjamin Hare; 47th Simon Yanow; 52nd Ty Frydenlund
SG Race 2, Saturday
• U16 Women: 16th Shayna Little
• U16 Men: 23rd Finley Cashin; 46th Simon Yanow; 52nd Ty Frydenlund
SG Race 3, Sunday
• U16 Women: 3rd Shayna Little
• U16 Men: 37th Benjamin Hare; 43rd Simon Yanow; 53rd Ty Frydenlund
