Hello Big White Ski Club Members, Sponsors and Alumni!

On behalf of the Big White Ski Club Executive team - I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season! Our ski season is off to a great start with super snow conditions. We have enjoyed firm snow for early training and now we are getting blasted with powder snow for the winter school break!

Although the Covid restrictions have created some challenges for our startup this season - I think you will all agree we are lucky to be skiing with few impediments. Just today, Ontario announced a complete Covid lockdown which includes the closure of all the ski hills; yes, we are fortunate to be here in British Columbia!

It is my hope that our province will continue to fare well with controlling Covid-19. I’m keeping fingers crossed that Dr Henry will allow us to go back to Phase 3 of our Covid restrictions. An easing of restrictions in 2021 could allow BC Alpine to reschedule some races for all age groups. Our club will communicate any race schedule changes as soon as we are updated from BC Alpine. So let's continue to be the group on the hill who leads by example, with those great BWSC Buffs or other face coverings!

On a brighter note, our ski club has enjoyed a strong enrolment for 2020/21. As well, we are happy to report that the BWSC has welcomed many new alumni ski coaches this year. Many of these coaches are ex-racers who are eager to share their passion for skiing with your family. 

As well, many of our ski club members have been using the Skytech Ski Simulator since September. Our simulator coach, Wade Christie, would love to put your athlete (U12 or older) through some personal training on the ski simulator during the weekdays in the New Year. For the current athletes, take the time to enjoy the training and make the best of the end of 2020. To the dedicated parents, alumni and sponsors, we hope we can host some kind of social event some time in 2021 and gather once again.
