The Big White Ski Club teams were divided in their locations last weekend, but still had top results!

While the U16 team was at a four-day TECK race at Sun Peaks Resort, the U14 and U12 teams attended the SPEED CAMP at Silver Star Mountain. 

Sun Peaks had some weather challenges which caused them to make some last-minute changes to their schedule and format. The athletes pivoted with the adjustment and had some variable results. Most notably, Sacha Jirasek was TOP OF THE PODIUM, winning the Slalom race on Friday. Kale Oberlander also made the top ten with TWO 10th-place finishes on Saturday and Sunday in the GS races. Sacha also made 10th place on Saturday in GS.

Simultaneously, the U14 and U12 teams attended the SPEED CAMP at Silver Star. This was all these athletes' first time at a speed event as the event hasn't run since it was canceled in 2020. Lots of great results for Big White including a podium sweep for the U14 girls with 1-Alexandra Walker, 2-Mikalah Taylor, 3-Lea Blondin. As well, Hunter Kay placed 1st for the U14 boys and Marin Oberlander finished 1st for U12 girls! Andy placed 3rd place for U12 boys and there were many more top-10 finishes for the club!

The older athletes have a rest from traveling with local training this weekend at Big White. Meanwhile, the rest of the club is excited to host the Nancy Greene, Okanagan South Zone race at Big White Resort this Sunday for the youngest athletes in the club and the area.
