WHO SHOULD TAKE THE LEVEL 1 OFFICIALS COURSE?
ALL RACE PARENTS OF COURSE!

Level I is a basic course prepared for race volunteers with little or no experience as alpine race officials. The goal is simple: To inform you about the disciplines of alpine, para-alpine and ski cross. It is recommended for all parents who will ever be involved helping out with races (e.g. gate judge, timer or record keeper, or even coat runners to know how the race course is organized and where you can and cannot safely go) and generally helping to shift burden away from coaches to let them focus on the racers on-hill). All sports are regulated by a set of rules, alpine skiing is no exception. However, during this course, only the necessary rules of this level will be presented, and in an informal manner. Volunteering as a race official allows you to get into the best possible position to watch your young skier. The course will cover the various race positions from indoor positions in the race office to outdoor positions on the course, start and finish areas. There really is something for everyone and every skill set!!

An outline of the course can be found at: http://www.kimberleyalpineteam.ca/wp-content/uploads/sites/158/2016/01/Level-1-Officials-Manual-2015.pdf Note: There is no need to print out the manual. Copies will be given to each attendee in class.
