The Big White Ski Club was in action this past weekend (January 9-12 2020) for the first provincial Teck Open Series races of the season at Panorama Mountain Resort with a total of 7 skiers representing the club and competing against participants from all over BC.  Over 220 U16, U18 & FIS skiers competed in two giant slalom (GS) races on Thursday and Friday, followed by two slalom (SL) races on Saturday and Sunday.

In the Women’s U16 category, Shayna Little (2005) was the top racer from Big White finishing 8th in her second GS race on Friday while in the Men’s U16 category, Finley Cashin (2005) placed 29th in his second GS race on Friday and 17th in his second slalom race on Sunday.  Simon Yanow (2005) also cracked the top 30 twice with a 27th and 30th finish, while Benjamin Hare cracked the top 30 once finishing 28th.

Also competing from the Big White Ski Club were Takoda Ito (2005) and Ty Frydenlund (2005) from the U16 men.  Also joining the club this weekend was Trystan Peters (2003), who raced in the U18 category.  Other notable placements from the Big White Ski Club included:

• U16 Men: 27th Simon Yanow; 28th Benjamin Hare; 32nd Takoda Ito; 38th Ty Frydenlund
• U18 Men: 36th Trystan Peter

SL Race 2, Sunday

• U16 Men: 17th Finley Cashin; 30th Simon Yanow; 39th Ty Frydenlund
